2020 Is All About Generation Z

Millennials have ruled the 00’s and 10’s social media trends, as we are sure they will continue to do in the ’20s – however, it is time to make way for a new wave of individuals, as Generation Z get ready to take over.

It is no secret that Millennials are the self-questioning generation, having lived through an area of multiple changes, whereas generation Z is all about knowing exactly what they want. The major difference between Millennials and Generation Z is that the Millennials have lived through both the non-digital age and the social media boom, so can simply call them the experts in understanding life with and without and learning how to adapt to the a major shift in how we communicate, whereas Gen Z – would win the fight when it comes to knowing the digital age inside out.

The great news is, Millennials are experts at adapting, so this is the era to win the hearts of both eras.

When communicating a product/service/company with Generation Z, there are a few things to keep in mind and a few key things to ‘be’:

1. Be more caring

Generation Z will go down in history as the caring generation and are focused on a better future. The ’20s are all about mental health, positivity, the environment and realism. Bring up spirits and in return, you will raise your own.

 

2. Be more human

It is time to be real and relatable and less photoshopped. Trust that they know all the latest apps and trends – they will know what is authentic and what is not. The ’20s will be all about raw. Generation Z is not about unrealistic expectations of perfection, forget about the perfect (and slightly unrealistic) travels and choreographed poses in the latest nightclubs. But do not mistake this for do not have fun, cause there will be lots of it, but generation Z could not care less about faking it, their fun will be authentic and real.

 

3. Be more Woke

This is a generation of self-awareness and less about self-centeredness. Get ready to be outspoken about climate change, environmental care and protecting our future. Get to know about different cultures, backgrounds and what makes people tick. Beware of alienating yourself by diminishing or disregarding someone’s social values that do not match your own, instead embrace them.

 

4. Be an Individual

Be yourself. The ’20s are looking to shift, and keeping up with the Jones’ will be a thing of the past. Create your own style, like your own things and do exactly what makes you happy and your energy will resonate. Create your own brand.

Trying to keep up with digital technology is sometimes like trying to keep sight of a cheetah chasing a gazelle at midnight under an African moon – it moves fast, often unpredictable and it could leave you feeling lost and in the dark fairly easily.
